Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced into halves or quarters

Cheese

  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella balls, drained and patted dry

Herbs and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, whole or torn
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Dressings

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit and Cheese: Cut fresh watermelon into uniform bite-sized cubes. Hull the fresh strawberries and slice them into halves or quarters depending on size. Drain the fresh mozzarella balls and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl or serving platter, gently toss together the watermelon cubes, strawberry slices, and mozzarella balls. Add the fresh basil leaves either whole or torn into smaller pieces according to your presentation preference.
  3. Dress and Season: Drizzle extra virgin olive oil evenly over the salad. Follow with a generous swirl of balsamic glaze. Finish by sprinkling salt and black pepper lightly to enhance all the flavors.
  4. Serve Immediately or Chill: Serve the salad immediately for the freshest taste, or cover and refrigerate for up to 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully before serving.

Notes

  • Choose ripe watermelon and strawberries for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • Pat mozzarella dry thoroughly to avoid a watery salad.
  • Add basil leaves last, just before serving, to preserve their vibrant color and texture.
  • Use a high-quality, thick balsamic glaze for better taste and presentation.
  • Keep the salad chilled until serving for a refreshing bite.
  • This salad does not freeze well and is best enjoyed fresh or within 24 hours refrigerated.
  • To make vegan, substitute mozzarella with plant-based cheese or marinated tofu.
