Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 tube crescent roll dough (8 oz)

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • Optional: 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • Optional veggies: bell peppers, corn, zucchini (amount as desired)

Cheese

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese blend (cheddar and Monterey Jack mix)

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped OR chopped cilantro
  • Optional: diced avocado, sour cream, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and 2 tablespoons of water, stirring well. Simmer until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
  2. Roll Out the Crescent Dough: Unroll crescent roll dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Press seams firmly together to form one large, uniform rectangle to prevent leaking.
  3. Add the Taco Filling: Spread the seasoned ground beef evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1/2 inch border around the edges. Distribute diced tomatoes, onions, and any extra veggies evenly on top.
  4. Layer on the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese blend generously over the entire pizza, covering the filling completely for a gooey melt.
  5. Bake Until Golden: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chopped green onions or cilantro. Slice into squares or triangles and serve warm with optional toppings like sour cream, avocado, or jalapeños.

Notes

  • Firmly press crescent dough seams to prevent fillings from leaking during baking.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melt and creamier texture compared to pre-shredded.
  • Spread taco filling evenly to avoid soggy or dry spots.
  • Adjust taco seasoning spice level to taste before spreading on dough.
  • Keep an eye on baking time since ovens vary; check a few minutes early to prevent burning.
  • Drain grease from cooked beef thoroughly to avoid soggy crust.
