Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Base

  • 1 store-bought or homemade pizza dough (about 12 inches in diameter)

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Sauces and Seasonings

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce, warmed slightly
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning (blend of oregano, basil, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)

Meat and Fillings

  • 2025 slices of pepperoni
  • Optional fillings: bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, cooked sausage (amount as desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Shred the mozzarella cheese and grate the Parmesan. Slice any additional toppings you want to use and warm the marinara sauce slightly to make spreading easier.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a large circle approximately 12 inches in diameter. This ensures a uniform shape and even cooking.
  3. Add Sauce and Fillings: Spread a thin layer of the warmed marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch of the edge bare. Layer the shredded mozzarella, pepperoni slices, and any optional fillings evenly on top.
  4. Create the Braided Ring: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut strips from the edge of the dough toward the center at regular intervals. Carefully fold each strip over the fillings to create a braided, circular ring. Seal the ends well to keep the fillings inside.
  5. Brush and Bake: Brush the entire dough ring with olive oil. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the ring is golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

  • Preheat the oven properly to ensure even cooking and crispy crust.
  • Do not overload with fillings to prevent sogginess or difficulty in braiding.
  • Use room temperature dough to make stretching and braiding easier without tearing.
  • Seal all edges tightly to keep cheese and fillings inside while baking.
  • Let the pizza ring rest briefly after baking to allow the cheese to set and make pulling apart easier.
