Nutella Stuffed Churros

Nutella Stuffed Churros

Nutella Stuffed Churros are golden, crispy Spanish-inspired treats filled with a luscious, creamy Nutella center. These indulgent churros combine a crunchy exterior with a soft, gooey chocolate-hazelnut filling, making them perfect for sharing, parties, or a special dessert at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Churro Dough

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (half for dough, half for coating)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs

Frying

  • Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)

Filling and Coating

  • Nutella (chocolate-hazelnut spread)
  • Cinnamon sugar (combine remaining granulated sugar with ground cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Bring water, butter, salt, and half the sugar to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the flour quickly until a smooth dough ball forms that pulls away from the pan sides.
  2. Incorporate the Eggs: Let the dough cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until the dough is shiny and elastic, ideal for piping.
  3. Pipe and Fill the Churros: Transfer dough to a piping bag with a large star tip. Pipe 3-4 inch lengths onto parchment paper. Spoon Nutella down the center of one strip, place another strip on top, and press edges firmly to seal.
  4. Fry Until Golden: Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan. Fry the filled churros 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Coat and Serve: While warm, roll churros generously in cinnamon sugar and serve immediately to enjoy the warm Nutella center and crispy exterior.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for smooth dough incorporation and to avoid curdling.
  • Press dough edges firmly to prevent Nutella leaking while frying.
  • Maintain oil at 350°F for crispy churros without greasiness.
  • Pipe smaller churro portions to ensure even cooking and easier handling.
  • Work quickly to prevent dough from drying before piping and filling.
