Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 no-boil lasagna noodles (or traditional noodles)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce (jarred or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Optional Protein

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey (optional)

Optional Variations and Add-ins

  • Spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for vegetarian version
  • Red pepper flakes or hot sauce for spicy twist
  • Provolone or fontina cheese for richer cheese blend
  • Gluten-free lasagna noodles, if desired
  • Cooked Italian sausage or crumbled tofu for extra protein

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Sauce and Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and some grated Parmesan cheese to create a creamy, flavorful layer. If using meat, brown the ground beef or turkey in a skillet, seasoning with onion and garlic powder, then mix it into the marinara sauce.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles over the sauce. Add dollops of the ricotta cheese mixture, followed by a layer of the meat sauce (or plain marinara if vegetarian), and sprinkle shredded mozzarella. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous topping of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  3. Bake Until Bubbling and Golden: Cover the dish with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 40 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of baking to allow the cheese to brown and bubble. Once baked, let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing to help the layers set and enhance the flavors.

Notes

  • Use no-boil noodles to save prep time and ensure perfect sauce absorption.
  • Let the lasagna rest after baking for easier slicing and better texture.
  • Distribute sauce and cheese evenly in each layer for balanced flavor.
  • Add fresh basil or parsley on top after baking for a pop of freshness.
  • Cover the dish with foil during baking to prevent over-browning.
