Ingredients

Scale

Stuffing Base

  • 4 cups quality bread cubes (preferably day-old)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped

Gravy Filling

  • 1 cup rich savory gravy (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Stuffing Mixture: Finely chop onions, celery, and fresh herbs. Sauté these vegetables in butter over medium heat until tender and fragrant. In a large bowl, combine the sautéed vegetables with bread cubes, eggs, and broth. Mix until the stuffing mixture holds together but is not too wet.
  2. Fill the Muffin Tin: Grease a muffin tin well. Spoon half of the stuffing mixture into each muffin cup, pressing lightly to form an even base layer.
  3. Add the Gravy Center: Carefully spoon about 1 tablespoon of rich, savory gravy into the center of each muffin cup, creating a flavorful pocket inside.
  4. Top with Remaining Stuffing: Cover the gravy with the remaining stuffing mixture, pressing gently to seal and form a muffin shape. This layering traps the gravy inside for a juicy surprise.
  5. Bake Until Golden: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the muffins for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown on top and cooked through.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool slightly in the tin before removing to maintain their shape. Serve warm to enjoy the juicy gravy center in every bite.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for better moisture absorption and ideal stuffing texture.
  • Fill muffin cups only about 3/4 full to allow space for expansion while baking.
  • Use a slightly thickened gravy to prevent sogginess inside the muffins.
  • Allow muffins to rest a few minutes after baking for easier removal and enhanced flavor.
  • Customize with add-ins like nuts or dried fruit carefully to maintain classic flavor balance.
