Ingredients

Scale

Base Layer

  • 150g crushed biscuits or cookies
  • 75g melted butter

Fudge Mixture

  • 200g high-quality dark chocolate
  • 100g butter
  • 395g (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Additions

  • Chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts) as desired
  • Fresh berries or sliced bananas for layering or topping
  • Pinch of cinnamon or chili powder for spice
  • A few drops of peppermint extract for mint flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base: Crush your favorite biscuits or cookies into fine crumbs and mix them thoroughly with melted butter. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of your chosen baking pan, creating an even and sturdy base that will support the creamy fudge layers above.
  2. Create the Fudge Mixture: Place dark chocolate, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over low heat. Melt gently while stirring continuously until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and immediately stir in cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to deepen the chocolate flavor.
  3. Assemble the Cake: Pour the prepared chocolate fudge mixture evenly over the biscuit base and smooth the surface using a spatula. Optionally fold in nuts or layer in fruit before pouring if desired.
  4. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the cake for at least 3 to 4 hours or until completely firm. This cold setting process is essential to develop the cake’s unique smooth and fudgy texture.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Once chilled and firm, slice the cold chocolate fudge cake into squares or wedges. Serve chilled alone or garnished with cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or alongside vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a perfect dessert experience.

Notes

  • Use quality chocolate for the richest flavor.
  • Do not rush the chilling process to ensure perfect fudge texture.
  • Press the biscuit base firmly to prevent crumbling when slicing.
  • Stir gently while melting to avoid overheating and grainy texture.
  • Line your pan with parchment paper for easier removal and cleaner edges.
