Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 fresh salmon fillets, skin-on
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 12 tbsp oil, for cooking

Chili Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sriracha or preferred chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime or lemon juice

Garnishes (Optional)

  • 2 green onions or chives, chopped
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon skin-side down and cook without moving for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden.
  2. Flip and Finish Cooking: Carefully flip the salmon and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon reaches your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let the fillets rest briefly while you prepare the sauce.
  3. Make the Chili Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sriracha or chili sauce, honey or maple syrup, garlic powder, and fresh lime or lemon juice. Stir well until the sauce is creamy, spicy, and sweet.
  4. Assemble and Serve: Plate the salmon fillets and generously drizzle the chili sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro, if desired, before serving.

Notes

  • Use room temperature salmon for even cooking and to avoid overcooking the outside.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing and crispy skin.
  • Adjust the heat by modifying the amount of chili sauce to suit your spice preference.
  • Always use fresh lime or lemon juice for the best flavor brightness.
  • Allow the salmon to rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to retain its juices and tenderness.
