Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed, cut into 2 to 3-inch squares)
  • Brie cheese (cut into small cubes)
  • Fresh or canned cranberry sauce (spoonful per bite)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Optional Add-ins

  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Honey or maple syrup (for drizzling)
  • Fresh herbs such as rosemary or thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions. Once pliable, cut the pastry into small squares, about 2 to 3 inches each, to fit your mini muffin tin or baking sheet.
  2. Fill with Brie and Cranberry: Place a small cube of brie into each puff pastry square, then add a spoonful of cranberry sauce on top. Sprinkle optional nuts or fresh herbs over the cranberry if using.
  3. Fold and Seal the Pastry: Gently fold the corners of each pastry square toward the center, pinching lightly to seal and form a pocket holding the filling securely.
  4. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Brush the tops of each bite with beaten egg wash to achieve a golden-brown, glossy finish. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the bites from the oven and let them cool slightly before taking them out of the muffin tin or off the baking sheet to avoid burning. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally drizzled with honey or garnished with fresh herbs.

Notes

  • Keep the puff pastry cold until right before baking for maximum flakiness.
  • Do not overfill the pastry to avoid sogginess or bursting.
  • Using a mini muffin tin helps shape the bites perfectly and ensures even baking.
  • Allow bites to cool a few minutes; brie stays very hot after baking.
  • For brightest flavor, use fresh homemade cranberry sauce instead of canned.
