Air Fryer Steak

Air Fryer Steak

A quick and easy Air Fryer Steak recipe that delivers juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked steak with crispy edges. Using an air fryer removes the guesswork and mess, providing restaurant-quality results with minimal fuss and healthy cooking benefits.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 1 ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon steak (1 to 1.5 inches thick)

Seasoning

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for brushing (about 1 tablespoon)
  • Garlic powder (optional, 1/2 teaspoon)
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme (optional, 1-2 sprigs)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Pat your steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps create a better crust. Lightly brush both sides with olive oil, and season generously with salt, pepper, and any additional spices or herbs you’re using.
  2. Preheat Your Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it preheat for about 5 minutes. This ensures high heat immediately hits the steak, locking in the juices and achieving an ideal sear.
  3. Cook the Steak: Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cooking time varies depending on thickness and desired doneness: 7 minutes for medium-rare, 10 minutes for medium-well.
  4. Rest Before Serving: Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes after cooking to let its juices redistribute evenly. This results in a moist and tender steak.

Notes

  • Steaks around 1 to 1.5 inches thick cook best in the air fryer for even texture.
  • Do not crowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation and crispy crust.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature for perfect doneness (130°F medium-rare, 140°F medium, 150°F medium-well).
  • Season the steak 15 to 30 minutes in advance for better flavor absorption.
  • Always rest the steak before slicing to keep it juicy.
